Testimony:  Purple Line Impact on Trail

Purple Line Public Hearing

Poem by Jim Roy

Since I was speaker #57, I had time to write a short poem

We cannot afford the proposed line along the current trail.

The north south traffic would slow to the pace of a snail.

To lose 15 acres of mature trees would be a shame

We don’t want to be the people future generations will surely blame.

The people with whom I’ve spoken are surprised about the change.

To lose an irreplaceable green space is more than a little strange.

The trail is a great place for people to walk their dogs.

Please don’t reduce the tree canopy to a bunch of useless logs.

If we are to build it there, let us put it underground.

It’ll cost more money, but long term…it’s clearly much more sound.

The costs are too high, the benefits are too low.

To the proposed purple line, we must say “NO”.

Respectfully,

 Jim Roy
